Based on the South coast, Gemini are one the area’s largest sheet-fed printers, and in February they installed the latest iSaddle Pro twin tower booklet maker from Duplo UK. The Shoreham-on-Sea based printer traded in their 10-year-old iSaddle for the new version to meet an expected increase in demand now the national lock down is being lifted.
Steve Cropper, Managing Director said, “As expected with the lock down easing, we’ve found that much of the fold, trim, stitch work that fell away last year has started to come back and we were in need of all the improvements the new iSaddle PRO had to offer. We didn’t need to look elsewhere for a replacement because our operators were just so happy with the old one. In fact, one of my finishers said the following….
“As a Print Finisher for nearly 29 years this is an excellent machine to run as I work on it on a daily basis.... the make-ready time and speeds are so quick and the software to save and reload is very good.”
“I can’t really argue with that because for us, the iSaddle is the perfect system. The new iSaddle is faster, more accurate, more intuitive to use, easier to set up which takes under a minute, it’s highly accurate and incredibly versatile – and it builds on the same principles that we’ve trusted for 10 years. In fact, the Duplo kit, iSaddle, DC-746 multi-finisher and the Duplo DBP 500 binder were integral to keeping us open during most of the pandemic. With the automation and the fact that they are so easy to use, we can have minimal operator touchpoints throughout our finishing, and this meant that we could socially distance safely while still being productive and taking care of our customer jobs.”
“The versatility of the iSaddle helps our goal of always keeping our customers at the forefront of our minds. At Gemini Print we don’t tend to have a typical customer profile; all are unique and have their own challenges. Our job is to help with solutions, and these will vary on a daily basis, making the iSaddle’s versatility indispensable. We love working with Duplo, and Adam especially, they deliver on what they say they will deliver. During the installation of the new iSaddle, there was very little disruption to the business and their service has always been good.”
Established in 1971, pre-COVID 19, Gemini had approx. 180 staff with a turnover just shy of £20M. They run Heidelberg B1, B2 and B3 presses, HP Indigo digital press, along with 2 Kodak NEX Presses and a Kodak Digimaster. They were recipients of Kodak’s environment Green Leaf award and drew at the top in Europe with Amsterdam’s Drukkerij de Biij.
Steve concludes, “We are always continuing to enhance our current offering and we do have plans in place to enhance this strategy and equipment during and beyond 2021.”
