Bristol-based Brunel Print visited drupa 2016 and felt inspired to invest in its future. Part of the company’s £300,000 spend at the show was on Duplo finishing equipment – a DC-746 slitter/cutter/creaser and a 600i Booklet System.
Traditionally a trade publisher, Brunel Print has been operating in commercial print for more than four years now, and has already shown a commitment to producing added value print, through investments in Scodix and Motioncutter equipment. With its new Duplo finishing kit it hopes to build on this innovative streak while increasing automation and retaining a competitive edge.
The DC-746 and 600i Booklet System will take the strain off of two Duplo DC-645 systems that have given great service over a number of years, being used heavily every day.
Sue Tugman, Managing Director of Brunel Print, said: “We really do push the capabilities of our equipment to the maximum, with challenging applications and high volumes. Our equipment therefore has to be robust and the output has to be spot on. The old DC-645s have performed really well and have demonstrated great reliability. Duplo has always shown itself to be a supplier that is prepared to go ‘above and beyond’ to support our business, so it was an easy decision to invest with them again.”
The DC-746 is Duplo's most powerful multi-functional finishing solution for the high volume digital colour print environment, its speed, automation and versatility providing digital printers and finishers with a fully automated system that eliminates the threat of downtime. It is capable of up to 10 slits, 25 cuts and 20 creases in a single pass, and can perforate too. It also comes with Duplo’s new Advanced Waste Management System which enables longer runs when unloading.
Duplo’s 600i Booklet System combines the robust lines of a large stitching system with exceptional intelligence and exclusive features such as A4 landscape format. Capable of producing up to 5,200 booklets per hour, it combines high speed intelligent DSC-10/60i Collator Towers and the easy to use DBM-600 Bookletmaker and Trimmer.
Peter Jolly, Duplo UK Managing Director, said: “Brunel Print is a forward-thinking printing operation with a strong focus on creative applications that will stand out from the crowd. There are stringent quality standards in this market that Brunel must adhere to so we’re delighted that it has chosen to move forward with proven Duplo finishing equipment once again.”
