DUPLO AND IT’S PEOPLE: Claire's Duplo Journey

What year did you start working for Duplo and how did you find the job?

I started working for Duplo in February 2015, found the job via a recruitment agency on a temp-to-permanent basis and was permanent within my first 3 weeks.

What attracted you to the role at Duplo? It was very similar to my previous Co-ordinator role that I had within another company, but in the motor industry. The world of print finishing was not something that I was familiar with and was very different, but interesting.

Describe your Duplo career path? I started off as an Export Administrator, I was promoted to a Senior Administrator and asked to cover the department for a year whilst Hayley Pimm was on maternity leave and then was made permanent as the Manager in November 2018 when she returned on a part-time basis.

What makes your job exciting?

The unknown! From day-to-day our workload varies so much, we could be processing essential orders for consumables or 10 x orders for DuSense machines! 😉 I enjoy working towards and monitoring our sales target each month and of course I enjoy working with all the Regional Sales Manager’s and their quirks!

Describe a day/week in the life of a Export Administration Manager?

No two days are ever the same, the basis and core of our role is processing and responding to various emails from our Distributors and RSM’s, price/stock enquiries, issues, and problems with logistics etc, processing sales order, arranging despatch to the distributor, invoicing etc.

What is your biggest responsibility? Keeping staff happy and motivated.

What is the hardest part of your role?

Dealing with issues and obstacles that’s are beyond my control and at times being unable to deliver as expected.

How much have you changed as a professional and personally since joining Duplo?

I think that I have gained valuable experience and am more self-assured within the role since starting at Duplo and am personally more confident within myself.

What is the best piece of advice that you would give to a person thinking about getting into Export Administration?

Go for it! I love my job! If you enjoy administration and procedures/structure then is perfect as there are a lot of processes to follow.
