Books are integral part of my personal and professional life. I am lucky to be part of a Duplo family where I am responsible for marketing and developing perfect binding and bookletmaking technologies for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia markets. I’d like to spend some time reflecting with you on how Duplo has helped the print industry to evolve from long run offset to short run digital and much more.
Automated precision is ingrained in our DNA and in our entire bookletmaking range. Duplo was the first company to introduce a fully automatic bookletmaker, the DBM-100 and DBM-200 in 1995. Since then we have come a long way. Fast forward to 2012, Duplo launched the world’s first truly digital saddle stitcher bringing automation to saddle stitching technology which also allowed commercial printers to produce A4 landscape booklets. In 2013, Duplo launched the PFi BIND range to deskill and democratise PUR perfect binding operations. Allowing in-plants and high street digital printers to bring PUR perfect binding jobs in-house and to embrace the digital revolution. With a craft of new features and improvements, it allows commercial, digital and in-plants printers to create more than just A4 and A5 booklets.
It allows for the production of specialised books which were previously only produced by hand.
