ImageData Group’s Brighton site has purchased and installed a new Multigraf 435-SM folder from Duplo UK. The purchase follows a period of heavy investment to bring production processes up to higher levels but keeping the efficiencies high. This will mark the third investment from Duplo in as many years over a range of products and a decades long relationship that does not seem to be diminishing.

“We’ve got a really good relationship with both the sales and engineering teams at Duplo,” says Jason Vivian, Operations Director at ImageData Group. “Adam and the team know how we operate, what our requirements are and where our pain points are. They know what we want to achieve, and Duplo works hard to keep us ahead of the game. We needed to reduce the touch points on our folding jobs, so the Multigraf replaced an aging 2 plate Foldmaster. The new folder has 4 plates with a 2-plate cross section – this has increased our efficiency and our productivity. With less outwork and less handwork. It was exactly what we needed, and Duplo were on hand again.”

The Multigraf 435-SM is a modular 4 plate folder with conventional manual folding plates. It’s perfect for the automation of folding a number of jobs at 25,000 sheets per hour, depending on the fold type. With a simple to use graphical touch pad, the Multigraf is easy to use, highly consistent in its fold quality and has a very minimal power consumption. “Our operators have really taken to the new Multigraf folder,” continues Jason. “With the touchscreen, set up is very simple and the Duplo engineers covered everything we needed to know in order to start production straight away. My team knows the local Duplo engineer very well, we’ve got a really good relationship with them with so many Duplo machines on site.”

Adam Drummond, Regional Sales Manager at Duplo UK said, “It’s always a pleasure working with Jason and his team, to see a company that embraces new and productive equipment in the finishing arena. ImageData has a company culture that drives enthusiasm and a willingness to achieve better results every day, which is evident to see when new equipment is installed.”

The products that the Brighton site of ImageData handles is very different to the operations in Howdon and Willerby, the main ImageData sites in East Yorkshire. Jason continues, “We produce a huge range of print products for schools, universities, manufacturing businesses, housing associations and care homes. These products include booklets, brochures, manuals, books, business cards, calendars, certificates, compliment slips, training material, greeting cards, leaflets, folders, posters, flyers, labels, letterheads, direct mail, media kits, menus, NCR pads, personalized pension statements, postcards, CD and DVD printing and replication, stickers, tent cards, ticket books, dividers, vouchers and much more.”

“Our customers keep coming back to us due to the different channels of distribution and services we offer. We have strong relationships with all of them and have a reputation of looking after them, but we’re also competitive on price. This means that our production needs to be as efficient as ever. All new purchases such as the new Multigraf folder need to reflect these points, and it doesn’t disappoint. We are now more competitive with folding applications due to more folding plates, so less handwork, fewer passes, and less outwork.”
