Chapel Press Boosts Efficiency and Customer Satisfaction with new Duplo Booklet Maker

Since its founding in 1983, Chapel Press has been a trusted supplier in the academic sector, working with universities, colleges, and blue-chip companies. Recently, they took a key step toward enhancing productivity and service quality by investing in a new Duplo DBM-700 booklet system. According to Tim O’Shea, Managing Director of Chapel Press, the decision to upgrade has already paid off, with noticeable gains in production efficiency.

“The new machine has replaced a smaller Duplo model we had been using,” says Tim. “It’s faster and has more section-collating capacity, which saves us valuable time. We’re able to reduce folding preparation when stitching, which has significantly sped up our workflow.” For Chapel Press, the increased capacity translates to better turnaround times for customers—a core goal of the investment. “We aimed to improve efficiency and handle a higher volume of work in-house, and the machine has certainly delivered.”

Installation and training went smoothly, which helped Chapel Press’s team quickly get up to speed. “Ross did a great job with the training, and some team members were using the machine independently within days,” Tim notes. “This ease of use means we’ve been able to maximise the machine’s potential from day one.”

Beyond speed and ease of use, Chapel Press has also been impressed with the machine’s quality output. “The standout feature of this machine is its square spine function, which allows us to stitch and achieve a distinctive spine. This innovation if more effective than the PUR binding process and results in a superior end product, compared to other traditional stitching lines, giving us a premium finish that really sets our work apart,” says Tim.

The DBM-700 Booklet system joins their Horizon PUR Book Binder, MBO folding equipment, Muller stitching line, multiple guillotines in their finishing department, and their Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 75 5 colour with coater and a XL75 10 colour long perfector, Sreen Platesetter, and Konica C6100 and C12000 in their press department. “It’s the perfect upgrade for Chapel Press,” Says Wendy Hogg, Regional Sales Manager for Duplo UK. “It’s going to help them speed up and streamline their booklet production, but it adds a quality that will go down really well with their customers – which after all is central to their ideology.”

In addition to their operational goals, Chapel Press remains dedicated to making a positive impact beyond the business sphere. “Chapel Press is delighted to announce its partnership with the Natalie Kate Moss Trust as their principal sponsor,” the company shared. This partnership highlights their commitment to community engagement, a value deeply embedded in the company culture.

As they look to the future, Chapel Press is committed to continuous investment in technology, machinery, and personnel to adapt to the evolving business landscape. “We continually invest in technology, machinery, and personnel to adapt to the challenges and changes of the evolving business landscape,” they affirmed. With a dedicated team and close client relationships, they remain responsive to customer needs and poised for future success.

Chapel Press’s adoption of Duplo’s new booklet maker exemplifies their dedication to operational excellence and exceptional customer service. By integrating a machine that enhances speed, capacity, and quality, they have strengthened their service offerings while maintaining their commitment to both customers and the community. This investment not only reflects Chapel Press’s pursuit of growth but also sets a strong foundation for continued success in the years to come.
