Ronset Supercharges Production with the Duplo DC-618

Ronset is rewriting the rules of print production by embracing the Duplo DC-618 – a bold, game-changing move that’s setting a new standard for efficiency. With the retirement of a key team member and the ever-growing demands of the print market.

Commercial Director Chris Durham explains that the timing couldn’t be better, "We can set the machine up and then let it do its thing with the odd check here and there. We don’t have to stand over it and babysit it. The DC-618 is more than just our latest machine installation - it’s the catalyst for transforming challenges into opportunities. By automating critical processes with pinpoint precision, the DC-618 has freed up valuable manpower and streamlined production. Our decision to invest in this advanced technology is a clear signal to the industry: when it comes to staying ahead, innovation isn’t optional, it is essential.”

For over four decades, Ronset has been a trusted name in the print industry. Founded in 1982 and serving clients across the M65 Corridor from Colne to Preston, Ronset caters to a diverse clientele, from B2B companies and local councils to schools, marketing agencies, and even football clubs like Blackburn Rovers. Their wide-ranging expertise covers everything from business cards to exhibition stands, showcasing a commitment to quality and versatility that has become the hallmark of their service.

"Purchasing the DC-618 has improved production and with losing a member of staff due to retirement means the existing staff have had to take up that slack. With this in mind and the fact the machine runs unaided is a massive plus to the staff and Ronset." Says Chris. In today’s competitive print market, efficiency, precision, and reliability are more critical than ever. Likewise, the need to streamline operations without compromising on quality. Automation, therefore, becomes not just a tool for efficiency, but a strategic asset in an ever-evolving market.”

"We actually trialled a DC-616 PRO in early 2020 but then Covid hit and we weren’t really in a place to move on that one, so we put that on the backburner. We had our Guillotine Operator retire at Christmas so it felt like the right time to bring the latest version, DC-618 in" explains Chris. “Once installed, the benefits were immediate. The machine’s automation and precision allowed our operators to step back and let technology take the reins, also we now have far greater precision than we had previously on accuracy.”

Like all Duplo equipment, the installation was accompanied by comprehensive training, which usually ensures that the transition to be as smooth as possible. Production Manager, Jason explained "The training given was first class and easily picked up. In fact, we went into production within hours of the machine arriving."

“Beyond technological advancements, Ronset remains deeply connected to its community,” says Wendy Hogg, Regional Sales Manager for Duplo UK. “With a dedicated team of nine, the company proudly supports local charities, including a 10 year partnership with Blackburn Youth Zone, and Nightsafe in Blackburn who supply a safe space for homeless 16-24 year olds, a testament to Ronset’s commitment to social responsibility. Ronset’s experience with the Duplo DC-618 is a clear example of how embracing innovative technology can resolve critical industry challenges. By improving production efficiency, ensuring precision, and easing the burden on staff, the DC-618 has not only met but exceeded their expectations.”

When Chris was asked, why this particular model was chosen, his response was immediate. "It has everything we needed to improve our production, and the ease of programming was an added bonus. We are always on the lookout to improve our efficiency and the DC-618 fits the bill. With its compact design, coupled with a diversity of functions, it’s a standout solution for businesses like ours that must maximise limited space while still offering a wide range of print and finishing options.”

“We are always plotting the future. In fact, we have purchased a new printing press, with installation imminent. It is a Konica Minolta 12000e this is the latest technology, so it will go faster and the quality has been improved again. This will free up more capacity for Ronset to bring in more clients. The DC-618 isn’t just a stopgap, it’s a stepping stone toward even greater innovation at Ronset and means we can help more of our clients and improve the services we offer and gives us room to grow and bring in new clients.”
