As our Warehouse & Distribution Manager, Chris Stead reveals all about what a typical day involves at Duplo for him, his best achievements so far and the overall love for his job!
What is your current role within Duplo?
Warehouse & Distribution Manager: I am responsible for our warehouse which holds approximately 17000 spare parts and for organising the delivery of machines throughout the UK.
What was your role before joining Duplo?
I have spent over 30 years working in the Print Industry. I started as an apprentice in 1985 and have worked in Pre-Press, Printing and Finishing. I have held various management roles – Production, Bindery and Press-Room. In my last role prior to joining Duplo I was the Bindery & Logistics Director at a commercial printing company on the South Coast.
What is a typical day at Duplo like for you?
No two days are the same at Duplo! On any given day I can be liaising with other departments, dealing with transport & courier companies, carrying out customer visits or negotiating with suppliers. Most of my challenges centre around ensuring that our customers receive their goods on time!
Fortunately, I have a talented and reliable team working with me which frees up time for me to get involved in projects outside of my remit such as helping to organising our company events.
What is your favourite part of your role?
I am happy dealing with people, building relationships and negotiating, both internally and externally.
Best achievement at Duplo so far?
In my time at Duplo, I have been able to recognise previously untapped talent in several members of staff which has resulted in them being moved up into roles more befitting of their skillsets. This has helped them with their personal and professional development and has meant that Duplo are able to provide a better service to its customers. I am proud of my involvement in their development.
Anything else to add?
I enjoy working for a company that actively encourages everyone to be the best they can be.
