Solent Design Studio removes bottlenecks and increases services to customers with new finishing solutions.
Hampshire based Solent Design Studio Limited will be using their new PFi Blade B2+ digital cutting table to extend new services to their existing customers and to win new business within the packaging industry. They have also installed a new Duplo DC-618 slitter, cutter, creaser to ensure that their production does not bottleneck in the finishing department, ensuring all jobs are completed on time.
As well as offering litho & digital printing, Solent Design Studio provides a full design support package through their experienced in-house design team. They offer this service to their commercial print customers and clients with packaging requirements. Martin Reynolds, Managing Director of Solent Design Studio has spent the last thirty years within the company, and is leading the business into new markets. “The PFI Blade enables us to proof jobs for clients without incurring tooling costs, and allows us to attract new business from the packaging sector. It has already created huge interest from other printers and companies with packaging requirements, giving us an increased turnover. We chose the PFi Blade B2+ because of its 800 x 600mm flatbed size which can work with our printed sheet size. Our team of graphic designers, have a vast amount of experience creating packaging items, this enables our production team to consistently produce high quality products for our clients.”
The main core of the business at Solent Design Studio is traditional commercial print, and “purchasing the DC-618 slitter, cutter, creaser has enabled jobs to be turned around much quicker,” says Martin. “The DC-618 can accommodate any bottleneck in finishing and it is very easy to use with all staff able to operate this machine to its maximum potential. Duplo has been very supportive, and the installation went very smoothly. The training has given us enough knowledge to start producing products immediately.”

The PFi Blade complements our other machines and allows us to be creative and really wow our customers.”
